HILLSBORO, Ore. – The Wildcats got off to a quick start, but came up short in extra time in their final outing of the 2016 campaign.

Senior forward Lana Willard scored the final goal of her four-year career in what would be her final match in Purple and White uniform as the Weber State University women's soccer team fell 2-1 in overtime to Portland State on Sunday afternoon at Hillsboro Stadium.

Weber State finished its 21st season with a 5-10-2 overall mark (3-6-1 in Big Sky play).

Sophomore forward Morgan Quarnberg brought the ball down the right side of the field and unleashed a shot on Portland State goalkeeper Abbie Faingold, but Faingold was unable to hold onto the ball and it fell to Willard's feet for the easy finish in the seventh minute.

Portland State equalized in the 30th minute, capitalizing on a defensive error by the Wildcats, and the teams traded opportunities for the final 60 minutes of regulation.

The Vikings' Breann Chilton-Eddy score the golden goal match winner in the 94th, hitting a shot from distance.

Weber State graduates just one senior, Willard, and will return the bulk of its roster for the 2017 season.
