Weber State falls 2-5 to New Mexico State

LAS VEGAS – Weber State women's tennis finished up their weekend in Las Vegas falling to New Mexico State 5-2.

"Overall the ladies tried hard and gave a good effort but NMSU was just a little more consistent than us on every match they won," assistant coach Mark Roberts said. "As a whole we need to get back to making ourselves accountable to playing solid, consistent tennis. We are al looking forward to another match Tuesday where we get to go to battle again."

NMSU finished the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles spots with victories claiming the doubles point early on. The No. 1 doubles match did not finish.

In the singles competition Agata Bachanek played really good tennis and beat Ashvarya Shrivastav who is a tough opponent with scores of 6-4, 6-4 in the No. 1 spot.

Dominque Beauvais also picked up a victory in singles play defeating Marie-Pier Thiffault 7-5, 0-1 before the match was retired due to an NMSU injruy.

The Wildcats now drop to 0-4 on the season. Weber State will next travel to Idaho State Feb. 2 in a nonconference match up. Conference play will start Feb. 20 at North Dakota.
