Wildcats rally to beat Montana State 68-60

OGDEN - Weber State rallied from a halftime deficit for 68-60 win over Montana State Thursday night at the Dee Events Center. The win keeps the Wildcats in first place in the Big Sky and sets up a first place showdown with Montana Saturday night.
Montana State jumped out strong out of the gates and led by 11 points at 18-7 6:32 into the game. MSU led by nine with 3:40 to play when the Wildcats closed the first half on an 8-3 run to make it a 34-30 Montana State lead at the break.
Weber State started the second half on a 9-0 run and never trailed again. The 'Cats led 56-53 with 6:26 to play when they went on a 7-2 run to extend the lead to eight and hold on for the victory.
“It wasn't the prettiest thing to watch but I was really, really proud of our team and how they fought and found a way to win tonight,” said WSU head coach Randy Rahe. “We were shorthanded without Joel but everybody really played together. We got off to a tough start but they really fought hard to come back and get some momentum.”
The 'Cats were playing without the services of Joel Bolomboy who did not play after suffering a bone bruise in his left knee in Saturday's win.
Junior Jeremy Senglin led the Wildcats with 17 points, six rebounds and four assists while playing 40 minutes. Kyndahl Hill had his second double-double of the season with 16 points and 10 rebounds and Zach Braxton had 14 points. Weber State had 21 points off the bench.
Weber State shot 51 percent from the field and held Montana State to 37 percent shooting. The Bobcats outrebounded the Wildcats 41-35. Weber State was 4 of 20 from 3-point range for 20 percent and finished 10 of 23 from the free throw line for 43 percent shooting.
The win was Weber State's 12th straight home win and moved the 'Cats to 21-7 overall and 13-2 in Big Sky play. With a win at Idaho State, Montana also improved to 13-2 in league play to set up the showdown for first place on Saturday night.
With the win Weber State also clinched a first round bye in the Big Sky Tournament.
