Weber State falls 5-1 to Utah State

OGDEN - Weber State women's tennis fell to Utah State Wednesday afternoon 5-1.Â
"Utah state is always a strong program and they played well today," Director of Tennis Brad Ferrerira said. "Proud of my girls for the way they fought in a closer match than the score indicated. It's always fun to have a good in state rivalry."
The Wildcats started the match off on a high note by claiming the double point.Â
Dominique Beauvais and Morgan Dickason defeated Nini Guensler and Maggie O'Meara 6-3 in the No. 2 spot. In the No. 3 spot, Agata Bachanek and Devi Hasan picked up a 6-2 win over Lexi Turley and Monika Van De Vondel.Â
The success in doubles play gave Weber State their lone point in the match.Â
There were several close scores in singles play but Utah State brought a strong game and claimed the top five singles matches. The No. 6 singles match didn't finish as the match had already been decided. The Aggies ended the match with a 5-1 victory over the Wildcats.Â
Weber State is now 5-10 overall on the season and remain 4-1 in Big Sky Conference play. The Wildcats will next host Montana State and Southern Utah this weekend. Weber State is currently sitting at No. 3 in the Big Sky Standings and are only a few wins away from clinching a trip to the Big Sky Championships.Â
