Weber State downs Montana 4-3 on Senior Day

OGDEN - Weber State women's tennis said goodbye to its four seniors today in the last home match of the season with the best way possible by taking down Montana 4-3.

This was the last match at Weber State for Megan Rindlisbacher, Lauren Schulte, Agata Bachanek and Kristi Elmer.

"I'm incredibly impressed with this group of girls," Director of Tennis Brad Ferreira said. "They started off a little slow this season but they've worked extremely hard. They've battled out a lot of close matches this year and to finish the regular season with an 8-3 Big Sky record is a huge turnaround. They've worked hard and earned every win they've gotten. We're really excited to go compete in conference and see how far we can go."

Montana started the day off sweeping the doubles point giving them the lead going into doubles play.

Singles play started off with three straight Wildcat wins. In the No. 3 spot by Sara Parker. Parker defeated Hannah Sulz 6-0, 6-2. Bachanek also picked up a win in the No. 1 spot defeating Fancis Dean 6-3, 6-1. While Morgan Dickason picked up a 6-2, 6-1 win over Anabel Carbo in the No. 6 spot.

With Wildcat losses in the No. 4 and No. 2 spots the overall match win came down to Devi Hasan's match in the No. 5 spot.

Hasan dropped her first set to Catherin Orfanos 4-6. Hasan then came back and won her second set 6-4, forcing it into a third set. Hasan had a 5-4 lead in the last set but Montana came back and tied it a 5-5.

Hasan went on to win the next two games for a final set score of 7-5 which also gave Weber State the 4-3 overall win.

The Wildcats completed the regular season with an 9-13 overall record and finished Big Sky play with an 8-3 record.

Weber State will compete in the Big Sky Championship tournament April 28-30 in Sacramento, Calif.
