Weber State falls to NAU 5-2

OGDEN - Weber State women's tennis team fell to Northern Arizona 5-2 Sunday afternoon.
"You can see why NAU is No. 1 in the conference," Director of Tennis "Brad Ferreira said. "They have strong players in all six spots and strong doubles. I think our girls fought well, but NAU fights hard on every single position, which means if you're not 100 percent on your game it's tough to win."
The Wildcats struggled to find footing in doubles play as NAU picked up wins in the No. 1 and No. 3 spots giving the Lumberjacks the advantage going into singles play.
Singles play started off on a high note for the Wildcats as Morgan Dickason picked up a win in the No. 6 spot defeating Eirene Granville 6-1, 6-1.
NAU then picked up wins in spots one, two and three giving them a 4-1 lead over Weber State.
After losing the first set Dominique Beauvais came from behind to pick up a win in the second set and won the tie breaker defeating Hailey Rochin 4-6, 6-3, 10-2.
The match ended with a Lumberjack win in the No. 6 spot giving NAU the final 5-2 win over Weber State.
"We did not play as well as we possibly could," Ferreira said. "All in all there was a lot of positives today and we're going to tighten up a little bit and work on not making as many errors against a good team like that."
The Wildcats are now 7-11 overall on the season and 6-2 in Big Sky Conference play. They will next host Santa Clara April 7 in the first outdoors match of the year.
