SEATTLE – The 2016 season crossed the finish line on Saturday evening, bringing down the curtains on the Wildcats' record-breaking campaign.

The Weber State University softball team fell 5-2 to North Dakota State in an elimination game on day two of the Washington Regional.

Weber State finished the season with a 37-19 overall record, wrapping up a two-year stretch that has seen the once fledgling Wildcats softball program soar to back-to-back Big Sky Conference championships and 75 overall wins.

Senior third baseman Alyson Kulp, the Wildcats' career leader in hits, doubles, triples, and a number of other categories, recorded two hits in her final game with the Purple and White including an RBI double in the seventh inning as Weber State valiantly tried to rally.

Senior shortstop Aubrey Whitmer, the Wildcats' career batting average leader and 2016 Big Sky Conference Player of the Year, had a sacrifice fly RBI in the third.

Five seniors saw their time in a Purple and White uniform come to a close, with Kulp and Whitmer being joined by first baseman Krystin Kubo, and outfielders Jazmine Thompson and Rudi Barrios in Weber State's five-player senior class.
