OGDEN – The Wildcats were grounded.
The Weber State University women's soccer team saw its three-match unbeaten streak ended with a 2-0 setback to the Air Force Academy on Sunday afternoon at Wildcat Soccer Field.
After a pre-match flag ceremony, with a presentation of the colors by nearby Hill Air Force Base in honor of the 15th anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attack, the Falcons jumped out to an 11th minute lead and the Wildcats were unable to equalize.
Weber State fell to 2-2-1 overall, concluding its four-match homestand at 2-1-1, while Air Force improved to 2-1-1.
The Falcons' Meredith Reisinger punched Air Force into the lead in the 11th minute after a failed clearance landed at her feet and she hit a dipping shot from 30 yards out that redirected off the bottom of the crossbar and into the goal for the 1-0 advantage.
Air Force made it 2-0 in the 50th minute when Angela Karamanos hit a shot that bounced off both posts before sneaking into the goal.
Weber State will be back in action on the road this week, beginning on Thursday night at 8 p.m. in San Diego, Calif., against San Diego State, before heading east to Columbia, Mo., to take on the Missouri Tigers.
