SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Despite a valiant first-half defensive effort, the Weber State University women's soccer team suffered a 3-0 defeat to San Diego State on Thursday night at the San Diego State University SportsDeck.
Weber State fell to 2-3-1 overall, while San Diego State improved to 2-4-0.
The Wildcats held the Aztecs to just three shots on goal, and matched them with three of their own, in the opening 45 minutes of play, but San Diego State's Angela Mitchel broke through for the Aztecs in the 52nd minute with a shot from five yards out.
SDSU doubled up the lead in the 56th minute, and then added its third in the 81st minute.
Weber State will remain on the road through the weekend, heading to Columbia, Mo., to take on the Missouri Tigers. It will be Weber State's first-ever match against a member of the Southeastern Conference, and will be broadcast on the SEC Network+, available through WatchESPN.com, depending on your cable/satellite package. The Tigers are coming off a 2-0 road loss to Tennessee in Knoxville, Tenn., on Thursday night.
