Wildcat men's tennis splits road trip

Weber State men's tennis split a pair of matches this weekend on the road falling 4-3 at Northern Arizona and winning 5-2 at Southern Utah.
The Wildcats started the weekend off at Northern Arizona and fell 4-3 in a close match.
The Wildcats started the match off by claiming the doubles point. Hou-En Chen and Cezary Walkusz finsihed first with a win in the No. 3 spot. The duo beat Lucas Taylor and David Nguyen 6-2.
To clinch the doubles point, Shao-Po Yin and Stefan Cooper defeated Feliz Schumann and Sebastian Eguez in a tie breaker 7-6 (7-5) in the No. 1 spot.
In singles play, NAU started with a win in the No. 1 spot. Chen was the first Wildcat to pick up a win. He took down Schumann 6-2, 6-3 in the No. 4 spot. NAU then picked up three more singles wins to clnch the match.
In the No. 3 spot however, Kris van Wyk picked up a nice 6-7 (11-9)m 6-1 (10-6) win over Eguez.

"We have some players that are underperforming at the moment which is very frustrating. We did, however, play very good doubles to take the early lead. Eddie and Kris have been rock solid and continued to get us singles points."
Against Southern Utah, WSU finally found a successful rythm. The Wildcat took down the Thunderbirds 5-2 Sunday afternoon.
To start the match off, WSU claimed the doubles point with wins in the No. 1 and No. 3 spots. Chen and Walkusz defeated Sergui Palacio and Nicola de Enrique Schmidt 6-2 for the WIldcat duo's third consecutive win.
Yin and Cooper defeated Conor Tordoff and Cedric Rupa 6-1 in the No. 1 spot. The No. 2 spot went unfinished on the day.
In singles play, Cooper picked up a great 6-1, 6-4 win in the No. 2 spot over Guy Feigin. Michiel Van Schoor snapped a two match losing streak by defeating Palacio 6-2, 6-3.
Chen took down Schmidt in the No. 4 singles spot 6-2, 6-1 for his third consecutive singles win. Chen is currently on a 6-0 streak between doubles and singles play.
The last Wildcat to finish up with a victory was Yin in the No. 1 spot. Yin's victory snapped a three match losing streak. He defeated Tordoff 6-4, 4-4 (10-6).
WSU's impressive efforts on the day gave WSU the 5-2 overall victory.
"SUU is doing a great job of being competitive," Ferreira said. "The boys played well and it's nice to see them back on track."
Weber State is now 6-7 overall on the season and 2-3 in Big Sky Conference play. They will next host North Dakota March 31 and Portland State April 1.
