Wildcats down Portland State 5-2 on Senior Day

OGDEN - Weber State men's tennis honored Scott Hintze and Shao-Po Yin, the two seniors on this years squad, today in the final home match of the season. WSU took on Portland State and came out with a 5-2 victory.
"Senior day is always bitter sweet for me," said Director of Tennis Brad Ferreira. "I'm so proud of how much Shao-Po and Scott have come in this program. They've been huge assets to our tennis family."
Weber State started the match off sweeping all three of the doubles matches. Hou-En Chen and Cezary Walkusz started everything off with a 6-2 win in the No. 3 spot defeating Ethan Lopez and Sam Larson.
The No. 1 doubles team, Stefan Cooper and Yin was next to finish with a 6-4 victory over Nathan Boniel and Tommy Edwards.
Kris van Wyk and Hintze defeated Scott Goldner and Yousef Abdo 6-4 in the No. 3 spot to make the sweep of the doubles point.
WSU started off singles with three straight wins giving them the overall match victory early. van Wyk started things off with a win in the No. 3 spot defeating Goldner 6-1, 6-3.
Chen defeated Lopez in the No. 4 with scores of 6-1, 6-3. With Chen's two victories against Portland State, he is currently on an 8-0 win streak with four consecutive wins in both singles and doubles play.
Following in suit, Michiel Van Schoor defeated Abdo 6-3, 6-2 in the No. 5 spot. Van Schoor's win claimed the overall match victory for WSU but the rest of the matches played out.
Yin and Cooper dropped their matches in the No. 1 and No. 2 spots but Hintze finished things out on a high note with a 6-3, 6-2 victory in the No. 6 spot over Larson.
Weber State is now 7-8 overall on the season and 4-3 in Big Sky Conference play. The Wildcats finsih out the season with five straight road matches. First up, Utah State this Friday at 11:00 a.m.
