Weber State downs Idaho State 84-73

OGDEN – For the first time since 2009, Weber State swept Idaho State in the regular season action by taking down the Bengals 84-73, Saturday afternoon.
After the first quarter of play, Weber State trailed just 12-14. To start the second quarter Briana Gray dropped one from behind the arc to give WSU a 15-14 lead. Idaho State answered with an 13-3 run. To end the first half the Wildcats went on a 13-0 run and claimed a 37-24 lead over the Bengals.
Weber State maintained the lead only allowing Idaho State to close the score deficit to 10 points twice in the entire second half and WSU went on to finish the game with an 84-73 final score.
Senior Kailie Quinn had a big game against the Bengals. Going into the fourth quarter Quinn, had two made 3-pointers and dropped three in the final quarter. With 2:38 Quinn hit her fifth three pointer on the afternoon that broke Weber State's career record for made 3-pointers. Quinn now has 239 total in her career.
The Wildcats were led by Larryn Brooks who had 29 points and the game high of assists with five. Quinn had 21 total points on the night and rocked 10 rebounds for the game high and a double-double. Gray was the third Wildcat of the night to score in double figures as she racked up 15 points and dropped four from beyond the arc.
WSU shot a solid 41 percent from both the field and the 3-point line. While Idaho State shot 39 percent from the field and 15 percent from the three. Weber State out rebounded ISU 45-40.
The Wildcats are now 14-5 overall on the season and 6-2 in Big Sky Conference play. Weber State remains home for two more games starting with Southern Utah at noon Thursday, Feb. 1 and then Northern Arizona, Saturday, Feb. 3 at 2:00 p.m. both at the Dee Events Center.
