Weber State picks up 3-0 win over Eastern Washington

Weber State women's volleyball picked up a 3-0 sweep of Eastern Washington on Thursday night with scores of 25-13, 25-17 and 25-19.
"I thought we played a consistent match today," said head coach Jeremiah Larsen. "We went into the game with the goal of getting better at receiving serve. We got better at that every game."
Weber State started out strong in the first set with a 9-1 run. The Wildcats never let the Eagles string together more than three consistent points in that first set. To wrap up the first game, WSU went on a 4-1 run thanks in large part to Megan Gneiting had all four of WSU's points in the final stretch. Gneiting had two kills, one block - with the help of Sam Schiess, and one ace to finish off the first set 25-13.
In the second set, WSU jumped out to a 5-1 lead thanks to three consecutive services aces by Ashlyn Power. Later in the set, EWU put together a 7-1 run that brought the score within one point. The score was 13-12 which was the closest score up to that point in the match.
However, another ace by Power and two kills by Kennedy Redd gave WSU a nice cushion for a lead. WSU kept up the momentum to take the second set 25-17.
Weber State had a two set lead going into the third set. WSU took a 10-5 lead over EWU in to start off the third set. The Wildcats never looked back and finished the third set 25-19.
WSU was led by Gneiting who had 13 kills from 26 attacks with only two errors for a .423 percentage. Rylin Roberts had 12 digs for WSU and Ashlyn Power had six serving aces and 33 assists.
Weber State is now 13-7 overall on the season an 8-3 in Big Sky Conference play. WSU remains on the road and will take on Idaho Saturday, Oct. 27 at 8:00 p.m. MST.
