OGDEN - Weber State men's basketball held its only exhibition game of the season as the Wildcats defeated Chadron State 76-59 Thursday night at the Dee Events Center.
The Wildcats never trailed in the game and shot 51 percent for the game, with 62 percent shooting in the second half.
Four Wildcats scored in double figures, led by junior guard Jerrick Harding who finished with 16 points. Zach Braxton, Cody John and freshman Caleb Nero each had 11 points. Brekkott Chapman led the Wildcats with eight rebounds.
WSU led 30-21 at halftime and Chadron State, a Division II school from Chadron, Nebraska, cut the lead to as little as seven points early in the second half. The Wildcats went on a 13-3 run midway through the half to break the game open and led by as many as 20 points late in the game.
The Wildcats outrebounded the Eagles 35-27 and held Chadron State to just 2 of 18 shooting on 3-pointers.
11 different Wildcats saw action in the game as WSU prepares for the 2018-19 season.
"We were a little nervous playing the first game early on but I thought in the second half we relaxed a little and looked better," said Weber State head coach Randy Rahe. "We were much better offensively in the second half and got some transition baskets. It's going to take some time to get everyone comfortable but I like how they are playing and how hard they are working."
The 'Cats open the season on Tuesday, Nov. 6 at San Diego with the home opener set for Nov. 9 against Bethesda.
