Weber State closed out 2018 with another big road win as the Wildcats beat the Idaho Vandals 93-87 Monday afternoon in Moscow, Idaho.

Weber State never trailed in the win and held off a big second half by Idaho to secure their second-straight road win to start conference play.

The Wildcats jumped out to a great start and led the Vandals 21-5, just 7:27 into the game. The Wildcats stretched their first half lead to 25 points at 41-16 with 5:49 to play in the half and held a 52-30 lead at halftime after shooting 60 percent from the field.

Idaho came back with a strong second half and outscored the Wildcats 57-41 in the half. The Vandals cut the lead to 14 points midway through the second half. Idaho then got the lead to six points at 85-79 with 1:21 to play and cut it to five with 21 seconds left but the Wildcats made all eight free throw attempts in the final minute to seal the win.

"We really played well in the first half on both ends of the floor and had real high energy," said Wildcat head coach Randy Rahe. "To Idaho's credit they got things going in the second half and put us back on our heels a little bit. We had to fight it out a little bit at the end but it's a great win. Anytime you get two wins on the road you'll take it and it was a great job by our team this week."

The Wildcats finished the game shooting 53 percent from the field, their second-straight game above 50 percent. Idaho also shot 53 percent but the Wildcats outrebounded the Vandals 32-23 and had 15 assists. WSU was also 26 of 31 from the free throw line.

The Wildcats had four players in double figures, led by Jerrick Harding who finished with 24 points. He was 7 of 14 from the field and 8 of 9 from the free throw line. Brekkott Chapman had his third double-double, posting 21 points and 10 rebounds.

Zach Braxton had 18 points and seven rebounds and was 5 of 6 from the field, and Cody John added 11 points and three assists.

It was Weber State's first win in Moscow since the Vandals rejoined the Big Sky in 2015.

Weber State improves to 8-5 overall and 2-0 in Big Sky play. The Wildcats return home to open 2019 with two games this weekend, hosting Northern Arizona on Thursday and Southern Utah on Saturday at the Dee Events Center.
