Against Army, the Black Knights put up two runs in the bottom of the first inning. WSU was finally able to find some footing by knocking in one run in the top of the third inning.
Army knocked a grand slam in the bottom of the fourth inning however and left the Wildcats trailing 7-1.
Weber State had some work to do and started chipping away at the score. In the top of the fifth inning, Landi Hawker got on base with a bunt to the pitcher and Ashlyn Visser knocked her home with a double down the left field line. WSU trailed 7-2 after five innings of play.
In the top of the sixth inning, WSU had two outs. Sydney White was able to get on base after getting hit by a pitch and Takesha Saltern came in and hit a triple to left center. White scored and Saltern was in scoring position.
Hawker was up to the plate and singled to right field, she went for two and was thrown out but not before Saltern scored and WSU scored two runs bringing the score to 7-4 heading into the bottom of the sixth inning.
Weber State was able to prevent Army from scoring after the third inning. In the bottom of six, Kate Donaldson struck out the first batter and then WSU was able to pull two more quick outs before the seventh.
Ali Belloc was lead off for Weber State and she rocked a single up the middle. Molly Horned followed in suit with a single to the pitcher and Belloc advanced to scoring position. Rae Gall stepped up to the plate for WSU next and grounded out to shortstop. Belloc was able to score off Gall's hit and Horne was now standing pretty on third.
Chloe Camarero kept things rolling as she capitalized on an error by Army's third baseman that also allowed Horne to score.
WSU only trailed 7-6 with one out. McKinley Brinkerhoff was able to get on and Camarero was able to advance to third. Juliana Tricarico stepped into bat and Brinkerhoff stole second. Saltern was next up to bat and with two runners in scoring position WSU was ready to capitalize on the opportunity.
Saltern singled up the middle that brought in two runs that gave WSU an 8-7 lead going into the bottom of seven. All the Wildcats had to do was hold Army for three more outs.
WSU pulled out three up and three down in the bottom of seven to clinch the 8-7 victory over the Black Knights.
Weber State couldn't keep things rolling in the second game of the day as they fell to LMU 6-1. Weber State put up one run in the first inning but LMU answered with runs in the first, third and fourth inning to take a 3-1 lead.
The Lions had three more cross the plate in the bottom of the fifth inning and went on to shut out WSU for two more innings claiming the win.
Weber State is now 3-4 overall on the season and will remain at the Mary Nutter Classic to take on Arkansas and UAB.
