Wildcats drop final home game 68-62 to Idaho

OGDEN - Weber State dropped its second-straight game as the Wildcats fell 68-62 to Idaho Saturday night at the Dee Events Center. 

The loss drops Weber State to 19-9 overall and 12-4 in Big Sky play with two regular season games remaining. Weber State is now tied with Idaho for second in the league standings. 

The Wildcats jumped out to a 10-point lead midway through the first half, before Idaho went on a 16-6 run to tie the game at 32 with 2:55 left in the first half. The Wildcats closed out the half with five-straight points and led 37-32 at the break. 

Weber State led by seven with 16:11 left when Idaho went on a 14-5 to regain the lead and never looked back. Weber State cut the lead to two points with 53 seconds left but Idaho scored six points in the final 36 seconds to seal the win. 

Weber State shot 38 percent from the field, the second-lowest shooting percentage of the season. The 'Cats were 13 of 30 from 3-point range but was outrebounded by the Vandals 38-31. Idaho had 28 points in the paint. 

The Wildcats had four players in double figures, led by senior Ryan Richardson, playing in his final home game, who finished with 17 points on 6 of 11 shooting. He knocked down five 3-pointers and had four rebounds and three assists. Richardson also became the 33rd player in Weber State history to reach 1,000 career points, playing in his 114th career game at Weber State. 

Jerrick Harding added 15 points and WSU's other senior, Dusty Baker, finished with 14 points with four 3-pointers. He also had eight assists and five rebounds. 

Brekkott Chapman had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Idaho had five players score in double figures, led by Nate Sherwood with 15 points and 10 rebounds. 

With a win tonight, Montana has clinched at least a share of the Big Sky title. Weber State has clinched a first round bye in the conference tournament and could still finish anywhere from first to fourth in the league standings. The Wildcats close out the regular season at Montana Thursday and at Montana State on Saturday. The Big Sky Tournament will be March 6-10 in Reno, Nevada.
