Weber State defeats Southern Utah 11-0 in five innings

CEDAR CITY, Utah – Weber State softball rocked a big 11-0 win over Southern Utah Saturday morning.

 
To start off the game, aggressive base running by Takesha Saltern put WSU on the board early. Ashlyn Visser then hit a two run bomb to left field and Weber State had a 3-0 lead going into the second inning. 

 
In the top of the third inning Weber State went off and batted through the entire lineup. Weber State loaded up the bases and Visser hit a single that scored two runs. 

 
Rae Gall and Sadie Blacker each hit singles that scored three runs total. Jordan Lockhart also came up with a big RBI late in the inning and WSU was able to get eight runs off of five hits giving the Wildcats an 11-0 lead going into the fourth inning. 

 
The fourth and fifth inning went scoreless for both teams and for the first time this year, Weber State pulled out a shutout. 

 
Weber State is now 14-14 overall on the season and 2-1 in Big Sky Play. Weber State will next host its first home games of the season March 30-31 against Sacramento State.
