The Weber State men's and women's track and field teams competed at two meets in southern California this week. The Wildcats competed at the Bryan Clay Invitational at Azusa Pacific University and the Long Beach Invitational in Long Beach.

Weber State had multiple seasonal best and personal best performances. The Wildcats also had one new school record and several performances that rank at or near the top of the Big Sky Conference.

WOMEN
On the women's side the highlight of the week came from freshman Kate Sorensen who set a new Weber State school record in the 400 meter hurdles. She posted a time of 58.92 in the event at the Bryan Clay Invitational to finish third in the event. That time breaks the WSU school record, previously set by Ally Dean in 2009 at 59.49. It is also the second fastest in the Big Sky this season and the 18th best in the NCAA West region.

Another top performance came in the high jump where junior Abbi Brecht had a career best mark of 5-09.75 to finish second overall. The mark ranks as the fifth best in Weber State history and is also the best in the Big Sky this season and the 17th best in the west region.

Summer Harper posted the second best time in the Big Sky in the steeplechase as she posted a seasonal best time of 10:32.40. Bailey Winter also had a seasonal best in the event at 11:11.36.

Cidnee Davies posted a career best time of 14.39 in the 100 meter hurdles, which currently ranks fifth in the conference.

MEN
On the men's side, one of the top performances came from senior Anthony Gregory in the high jump. Gregory posted a seasonal best mark of 6-11 to finish fourth in the event. The mark is the best in the Big Sky this season and ranks as the 20th best in the NCAA West region.

Other highlights included Daunte Atkinson in the 200 meters. In his first 200 of the year, Atkinson posted a time of 21.59, which ranks as the fifth best in the Big Sky this season.

Brandon Yardley won his heat of the 800 meters with a seasonal best time of 1:52.09, the sixth best in the conference. Caleb Whitney had a seasonal best in the 110 meter hurdles at 14.81, the seventh best in the league.

Nick Benham finished eighth in the shot put.
