The Weber State University's men's tennis team competed against the Utah State University Aggies on Sunday, January 13. The Aggies defeated the Wildcats 7-0.
"We played a very solid team today. The boys didn't play smart enough to win today," said Director of Tennis Brad Ferreira. "Had our chances in the doubles, but couldn't capitalize today."
USU started off with defeating doubles duo Paul Ohde and Cezary Walkusz 6-2.
In the No.1 spot Kris van Wyk and Michiel Van Schoor beat Isaac Arturo and Jose Caravajal 6-4.
With the doubles advantage point on the line junior Nick Werner and Bo-Han Li played a gutsy match but ultimately fell to the Aggie duo of Felipe Acosta and Duro Opacic 7-6, 7-5.
On the singles side in the No. 3 spot Van Schoor had a chance to take his match into a third set with a well fought second set but fell to 6-1, 7-5.
The 'Cats put up a solid fight but ultimately fell and gave USU the 7-0 victory.
Weber State is now 0-2 on the season and will take on the University of Utah, Jan. 19 in Salt Lake City. The Wildcats will start Big Sky Conference play on Feb. 23 against Eastern Washington.
