Weber State sweeps NAU in three sets

OGDEN - Weber State volleyball has pushed on to a six match winning streak by taking down Northern Arizona in three sets Saturday night.
What head coach Jeremiah Larsen said: "I really liked how composed we stayed throughout the match. NAU has a way of getting under your skin and agitating you and our girls played really tough with a lot of grit to come out on top."
How it happened: NAU started things off with a 4-2 lead but Weber State went on a massive 10-1 run. Megan Gneiting served eight consecutive times in that run and rocked three service aces. The Wildcats went on to push the lead to 16-9. The 'Jacks pushed back with a 7-1 run and brought the score to 22-20 score. A Northern Arizona attack error put the Wildcats at set point and a service ace by Ashlyn Power gave WSU the 25-20 first set win.
The second set was all tied up at 11-11 and then WSU went on a 6-0 run. The Wildcats stayed on top and a pair of NAU attack errors gave WSU the 25-17 second set win.
NAU managed a 15-10 lead in the third set. Weber State later trailed 20-17 and came back with an incredible 6-1 run to take a 23-21 lead. NAU came back and tied it 23-23. With the crowd on their feet, Rylin Roberts slammed down a kill to the back line to bring WSU to set point.With another Roberts kill, the Wildcats pulled out a 25-23 third set win.
Killing It: Roberts led the Wildcat offense with 13 kills from 30 attacks with four errors for a .300 percentage. Weber State had 44 total kills from 119 attacks with 18 errors for a .218 hitting percentage. Ashlyn Power helped out the Wildcats with 34 assists.
Digging it: The Wildcats weren't letting anything hit the floor tonight as WSU pulled out with 65 total digs on the night. Helena Khouri led the way with 20 on the night. Roberts also recorded 15 digs for WSU.
Doubling it: Roberts proved her tenacity with a double-double on the match with 13 kills and 15 digs.
Notes to know: Weber State is now on a six match winning streak. WSU is now 17-6 overall on the season and 8-4 in Big Sky play.
Next Up: The Wildcats will stay at home and host Idaho State on Tuesday, Nov. 5 before hitting the road to Northern Colorado on Thursday Nov. 7.
