Three Wildcats to race at Cross Country NCAA Championships Saturday

OGDEN, UT - Lexie Thompson, Christian Allen, and Taylor Dillon will compete in the NCAA Championships in Terre Haute, Indiana this Saturday, November 23rd against the best of the best.
The race will be held at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course at the Wabash Valley Family Sports Center. The course is challenging, with a mix of uphill and downhill sections and its simple straightaway start that stretches for nearly the first kilometer. This will be the 13th time the NCAA Championships have been hosted at this course, along with the Pre-National Invitationals.Â
The women's 6K race will begin at 11:15 am ET (9:15 am MT). A course map for the 6K is available here. The men's 10K will begin at 12:15 pm ET (10:15 am MT). Senior Lexie Thompson will race in the women's 6K against the best runners in the United States. A list of qualifying participants is available here. Thompson qualified for the NCAA Championships with a 14th place finish, and time of 20:22, at the NCAA Mountain Regionals this past weekend. She also earned All-Region honors with her finish. Thompson is the first female individual bid for the Lady Wildcats since Ellie Child in 2016.
Christian Allen and Taylor Dillon will compete in the men's 10K against a loaded field. A list of qualifying participants is available here. Both men ran well at the NCAA Mountain Regionals to earn their individual bid to the Championships. Allen finished in 14th with a time of 30:51, and Dillon earned 24th with a time of 31:07. Both men earned All-Region honors for their finishes. This is the first time the Wildcat men have competed at the NCAA Championships since Seth Pilkington in 2007.
Both the men's and women's team had their best team performances of the season at the NCAA Mountain Regionals, with the women finishing 7th overall and the men finishing 5th overall. Four WSU runners earned All-Region honors: Lexie Thompson, Abby Lawrence, Christian Allen, and Taylor Dillon.Â
The NCAA Championships will be held on Saturday, November 23rd, in Terre Haute, Indiana.
