OGDEN— Saturday was a big day for Weber State's Peter Visser.
Visser competed at the NCAA Cross Country Championships for the third time in his career and earned All-America honors.
In addition, Visser was named the recipient of the Elite Scholar-Athlete award for the 2025 NCAA Division 1 Men's Cross Country Championship.
Visser has a perfect 4.0 G.P.A. He has graduated from Weber State with a degree in Film Studies and is currently pursuing a Master's of English degree.
He was presented with the award following the completion of the NCAA Cross Country Championships, held in Columbia, Missouri.
The senior from Afton, Wyoming, earned All-America honors by finishing 35th Saturday with a time of 29:02 on the 10K course. His 35th-place finish is the fifth-highest in Weber State history, and he's the sixth Wildcat to earn All-America honors in cross country. Earlier this year, Visser earned All-Big Sky and All-Region honors this season.
The Elite Scholar-Athlete award recognizes the true essence of student-athletes by honoring the individuals who have reached the pinnacle of competition at the national championship level in their sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among their peers.
The Elite Scholar-Athlete award is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals site for each of the NCAA's championships.
Visser is the third student-athlete from Weber State to ever earn the honor. Sarah Callister (women's cross country in 2012) and Jamie Stokes (women's indoor track and field in 2016) also won the award.
Eligible student-athletes are sophomores or above academically who have participated in a sport for at least two years with their school. All ties are broken based on the number of credits completed.
