11/21/2019 10:19:00 PM | Women's Volleyball

OGDEN - Weber State volleyball has continued to roll by taking down to Montana in four sets on Thursday night.

What head coach Jeremiah Larsen said: "We're trying to get some steady momentum as we head into the conference tournament."

How it happened: Early in the first set Weber State went on a 5-0 run, however, the Griz answered with a 5-0 run. Later in the set, the Wildcats went on an 8-3 run to take a 21-18 lead. Megan Gneiting slammed a kill into Montana's blockers to put WSU at set point. The Griz committed and error for the final point of the set and WSU won 25-19.

Weber State started the second set with a 10-2 lead. As a part of that run WSU had three blocks which Hannah DeYoung had a hand in all three. The Wildcats pushed their lead to 20-9. WSU ended the second set on a 6-1 run for a final score of 25-10.

Montana controlled the pace in the fourth set and took away WSU's chance for a three set sweep. The Griz came away with a 25-15 third set win.

In the fourth set, neither team had any big or dominant runs. Weber State showed consistency in their scoring efforts by maintaining a constant lead over Montana. It wasn't until late in the set when Weber State was able to put together a 5-0 run. Gneiting was able to put down a kill right in the middle of the court to put WSU at set point.

Killing It: Weber State had three Wildcats hit double figures. Dani Nay had a stellar night with 18 kills from 34 attacks with one error for a .500 percentage. Rylin Roberts had 11 kills and Gneiting added 10. Weber State ended the night with 54 total kills from 133 attacks and 13 errors for a .308 hitting percentage.

Digging it: Helena Khouri led WSU in digs with 17 digs. Katelyn Erwin had 12 digs for WSU. Weber State ended the night with 53 total digs.

Blocking it: DeYoung led WSU with six blocks on the night and WSU ended with a nine total team blocks.

Notes to know: WSU is now 21-7 overall on the season and 12-5 in Big Sky play.

Next Up: Weber State will return home for the final regular season game of the season Nov. 23 against Montana State. WSU will honor the five seniors, Hannah DeYoung, Aubrey Saunders-Adams, Helena Khouri, Katelyn Erwin and Megan Gneiting.
