WSU men's basketball opens season Friday at Utah State

• Weber State kicks off its 58th season of Division I basketball as the Wildcats travel to take on Utah State Friday night in Logan. Â
• Weber State is coming off an 18-15 overall record and an 11-9 record in Big Sky play last season.Â
• Weber State head coach Randy Rahe returns for his 14th season as head coach of the Wildcats. Rahe is the Weber State's and the Big Sky Conference's all-time leader in coaching victories with 266 career wins.Â
• The Wildcats lost two seniors off last year's team but return eight players off last year's squad.Â
• Weber State senior Jerrick Harding returns. Harding was named the Big Sky Preseason MVP and is a two-time first-team All-Big Sky selection.Â
• Also back is senior guard Cody John.Â
• Weber State welcomes two new transfers and five freshmen to this year's squad.Â
• The Wildcats were picked to finish second in the Big Sky preseason media poll and third in the coaches poll.Â
• Utah State was 28-7 last season and won the Mountain West and advanced to the NCAA Tournament. The Aggies opened this season with a 81-73 home win over Montana State on Tuesday. Â
• This will be the 72nd all-time meeting between the two schools with Utah State holding a 43-28 series lead. The Aggies are 25-9 against WSU in Logan.
