Wildcats to take on Tulsa in Round 3 of the NIVC

POST SEASON NOTES
•  This is Weber State's second post season appearance in school history.
•  The last time was in 1988 when WSU made it to the NCAA Tournament.
•  Weber State has a 9-12 overall postseason record.
•  WSU is 2-0 in the NIVC.

BIG SKY CHAMPIONSHIP NOTES
•  This was Weber State's third consecutive Big Sky tournament appearance.
•  This was the 12th time in school history, WSU has made it to the Big Sky Tournament.
•  WSU has a 7-11 record in Big Sky post season action.
•  The Wildcats have one Big Sky Title under their belt when WSU took down Boise State in three sets back in 1988.
•  The Wildcats have made it to the second round of the Big Sky tournament four times in school history.
•  WSU's three set win  over NAU was the first ever semifinal win in school history.
•  Last time WSU won an opening round of the Big Sky tournament was in 2008.
•  Weber State is now 1-0 over SUU in the Big Sky tournament.
•  Weber State is now 1-1 vs. NAU at the tournament.
•  The Wildcats are now 1-2 when taking on Northern Colorado in the tournament.

THE MATCH
•  The Weber State volleyball team season continues. WSU was invited to the National Invitational Volleyball Championship (NIVC) and will take on the University of Tulsa.

•  First serve for the Tulsa match will be Dec. 12 at 5:00 PM (MT)

QUICK HITS
•  Weber State currently holds an 26-8 overall record and finished out Big Sky play with a 13-5 record. WSU was the No. 2 seed in the Big Sky tournament.

•  The Wildcats hit a 20 win season. It's the first time WSU has had 20 wins since 2008 and only the seventh time in school history.

•  WSU's 24 wins season is tied for second highest in school history.

•  Weber State is on a two match winning streak and have won 15 of the last 17 matches.

•  WSU has had three Wildcats earn Big Player of the Week honors. Sam Schiess and Helena Khouri have both earned Defensive Player of the Week and Dani Nay earned Offensive.

• WSU hosted the Wildcat Invitational to start the season and came away as tournament champions. There were three teams with a 2-1 record but the Wildcats overall set winning percentage gave them the tournament title.

•  Weber State also came away with the Missouri State Fall Invitiational tournament title going at a perfect 3-0. Rylin Roberts was named tournament MVP.

•  The Wildcats were picked No. 2 in the Big Sky preseason polls.

•  Head Coach Jeremiah Larsen is in his fifth season leading the Wildcats and brought back assistant coach Kayla Morgan and hired on a new assistant coach in Matt Kuelpman.

NATIONAL RANKINGS
•  Weber State currently sits at No. 28 in the nation in blocks per set with 2.61 a set and No. 12 in total blocks with 310.0

•  Ashlyn Power is No. 32  in the nation in assists per set averaging 10.95 and No. 8 in the nation in total assists with 1,303 total on the season so far.

GNIETING ON 1,000
•  Weber State senior Megan Gneiting became the 16th Wildcat in school history to hit the 1,000 career kill milestone. She hit her 1,000th against Northern Colorado in the Big Sky Championship match. She will is the third one in three years to reach the accomplishment.

FIRST TEAM ALL-CONFERENCE
Weber State's Megan Gneiting received first-team honors for the second straight season and was joined on the first team by Dani Nay and Ashlyn Power.
> Gneiting leads the Wildcats in blocks and has recorded 106 with an average of 0.98 per set.  Offensively, she is second on the Weber State roster in kills with a total of 303 and a hitting mark of .245.  The senior has also recorded 27 services aces this season.
>Nay leads the Wildcat offense with 304 kills and is averaging 3.38 kills per set which is 9th best in the conference. Nay is hitting .240 this season and also recorded 20 service aces on offense.
>Power is second in the conference in assists with an average of 10.98 a set and has totaled 1,186 during the season.  Power leads the team in service aces at 29 and has also recorded 34 kills.

NAY BIG SKY FRESHMAN OF THE YEAR
Nay leads the Wildcat offense with 314 kills and is averaging 3.38 kills per set which is fth best in the conference. Nay is hitting .240 this season and also recorded 20 service aces on offense.

Tulsa Quick Hits: 

• Tulsa comes into the match with a 17-15 overall record and a n 8-8 American Conference finish. 

• They are on a two game winning streak. 

• Ryan Wills leads the Hurricane and is in his 6th year as Head Coach.

• Weber State and Tulsa have never crossed paths until now, this is the first meeting between the two teams.

• WSU has not played Tulsa under head coach Jeremiah Larsen.
