Wildcats beat Montana to advance to FCS Semifinals

OGDEN - History was made for Weber State football on a cold, snowy and rainy late-night at Stewart Stadium. The Wildcats defeated Montana 17-10 to advance to the semifinals of the FCS Playoffs for the first time in school history. 
 
Weber State will now head to No. 2 seed James Madison next Saturday in Harrisonburg, Va. Game time will be announced Saturday. 
 
In Friday night's win over rival Montana, the Wildcat defense had five interceptions and recorded six team sacks to rally from a halftime deficit and secure the win. 
 
After a scoreless first quarter during the snowstorm, Montana scored first midway through the second quarter to take a 7-0 lead. Trey Tuttle added a 41-yard field goal to make it 7-3 at halftime. 
 
Jake Constantine found Josh Davis for an 11-yard touchdown early in the third quarter to give the Wildcats the lead for good. In the fourth quarter, Ja'Kobe Harris blocked a Montana punt and picked it up in the end zone for a touchdown to make it 17-7. The Grizzlies added a field goal with 3:23 to play before Tarlas intercepted a pass with 2:01 to play to seal the win. 
 
WSU had six sacks for a loss for 41 yards and recorded nine tackles for a loss of 48 yards. Senior Adam Rodriguez tied a Weber State school record with four sacks in a game, the most by a Wildcat in eight years. 
 
George Tarlas had two interceptions with Noah Vaea, Eddie Heckard and Maxwell Anderson also each recording one interception. 
 
Vaea and Marque Collins led Weber State with nine tackles. 
 
Montana totaled 274 yards of offense, compared to 113 yards for Weber State. The 'Cats held the Griz to 17 rushing yards. 
 
Jake Constantine was 10 of 22 passing for 70 yards and a touchdown. Kevin Smith Jr. had 37 rushing yards, while Davis had 24 rushing yards on four carries. 
  
Weber State finished the season 8-0 at home for the first time in school history. The Wildcats are now 11-3 overall, tied for the most wins in a season in school history.
