Weber State Director of Golf Scott Erling has announced the recent signing of Hugo Cepeda of McKinney, Texas to a National Letter of Intent. Cepeda will join the Wildcats for the 2020-21 season.
Cepeda is a native of Mexico City, Mexico and has dual citizenship.
"We are very excited to have Hugo join our program," said Erling. "He has a lot of experience playing golf both nationally and internationally, and we feel that with his experience, he will be able to step in right away and be a contributor for our team."
In Mexico, Cepeda helped his Bosque Real AA team to an Interzones Championship in the Golf Association of the Valley of Mexico, and competed in the La Hacienda Match Play Vallescondido Golf Club tournament.
At Independence High School, Cepeda lettered three times in golf and also lettered in soccer for the Knights. He was an All-District Team award winner two times.
He finished as runner-up in the Frisco Cup and he earned tournament titles at the Mellisa Invitational at the Bridges and at the Robson Ranch Tournament.
