Wilson Wins Individual Title at Dolenc Invitational; 'Cats Finish Seventh

MADISON, Ill. – Matthew Wilson took home co-medalist honors on Tuesday after posting a 14-under par total of 199, leading Weber State to a seventh place finish at the SIUE Dolenc Invitational at Gateway National Golf Links.
The Wildcats were in red figures each of the three rounds, posting totals of 279, 280 and 282 for an 11-under par 841.
Wilson opened his tournament on Monday morning with seven birdies against a lone bogey for a 6-under par 65 to jump to the top of the leaderboard. He then added six more birdies in a 3-under par 68 on Monday afternoon to remain in the top two heading into the final day. On Tuesday, Wilson again carded seven birdies en route to a 5-under par 66. He finished his 54 holes tied with Idaho's Samuel Johnson, who went 66-68-65 for his 14-under par total.
Ty Anderson finished in a tie for 35th place at even-par 213 after posting rounds of 67, 72 and 74. He carded a pair of birdies and an eagle in a bogey-free opening round and added four more birdies over his final two rounds for a total of six.
Bobby Kincaid shot 4-over par 217 for the tournament with rounds of 74, 72 and 71 and finished in a tie for 60th, carding 10 birdies for the tournament.
Luke Smith posted rounds of 76, 68 and 74 for a 5-over par total of 218, finishing in 67th place. His second round 68 included a pair of eagles and two of the seven birdies he recorded over the tournament.
Markus Nanpei finished in a tie for 77th place with rounds of 73, 78 and 71 for a 9-over par 222. He posted eight birdies in the event.
Idaho took the team title, shooting 31-under par 821. Morehead State finished second, 12 shots back of the Vandals.
