Wildcats open Big Sky play with 6-1 win over Eagles

The Weber State men's tennis team opened the Big Sky Conference season on a high note, picking up a 6-1 win over Eastern Washington on Saturday in Ogden.
The Wildcats got off to a fast start, sweeping the doubles matches, then won five of the six singles matches.
Paul Ohde won the first singles points with a dominating 6-2, 6-0 win, followed by Nick Werner winning 6-1, 6-3 to give the Wildcats a 3-0 lead.
Kris Van Wyk clinched the win with a 6-2, 6-3 victory at the No. 1 singles spot. Junhao Ye won at No. 5 6-3, 6-3.
"This was a great to conference play," said head coach Brad Ferreira. "We started with some very dominating doubles. I am very happy with the progress we have made in doubles. All three teams are playing very smart, good doubles. I'm very happy with everyone's effort and professionalism today. If we keep this up we are going to have a very good rest of the season."
