'Cats beat Dixie State 5-2

OGDEN - The Weber State University's women's tennis team beat Dixie State University 5-2. This tune-up match was on the way to the UNLV tournament which begins tomorrow.
"It was a good team performance today. Dixie State fought hard and made us earn the win," head coach Mark Roberts said. "It was great to play an outside match as we travel to Las Vegas for our tournament."Â
Weber State started the day by capturing the doubles advantage point. WSU swept their doubles matches with wins in the No.1, 2 and 3 spots. Yuuna Ukita and McKenna Lloyd in the No.1 spot notched the first win for Weber with a 6-1 victory over Kyra Harames and Megan Lynch. Next up was Sara Parker and Pei-Hsuan Kuo's 6-3 win over Elly Lloyd and Yolena Carlon. Rounding out the sweep was Megan Lombardi and Cali Fuller who topped Ereksen and Hon Crauk 6-4. Â
In singles play, Lloyd in the No.6 spot struck first with her 7-5, 6-0 win over Juliana Honczaruk. WSU won matches on courts 6,5,3 and 1.Â
Freshman Megan Lombardi has remained unbeaten in singles this season as she defeated Hattie Ereksen, 6-2, 6-4.Â

Fuller took her second win of the day at No.3 singles as she bested Elly Lloyd, 7-6,6-1.Â
Ukita had a fierce battle against Kyra Harames. After being down a set she rallied and took the second set, and the match came down to a tight third set with Harames taking the final set, 3-6, 6-1, 5-7.Â
Playing in the No.1 singles for the first time this season was Patti Kuo who had a lengthy match that came down to a third and final set. Yolena Carlon edged out the first set, but Kuo came back to take the second set. After a tight battle in the third set Kuo came out victorious with 6-7, 7-6, 11-9.
Weber State is now 3-2 on the season. The 'Cats begin tournament play against UTEP on Feb. 8 at 11 a.m., on Saturday they have a doubleheader against Youngstown State and UNLV.
