Weber State softball drops two in the first day of the San Diego Classic. First falling to UC Davis 9-0 and then later falling 4-1 to the University of San Diego.
Against UC Davis, Weber State had a strong first inning by loading up the bases and putting runners up in scoring position but were not able to get a run across.
Weber State held UC Davis scoreless in the first three innings with the second and third innings with three up, three down defensive efforts. However, UC Davis was able to put up eight runs in the final three innings to claim a 9-0 win over WSU.
In the second game against San Diego, the Toreros put three runs up in the second inning. Weber State's defense came through again in the third and fourth inning keeping San Diego from scoring. In the bottom of the fifth inning, San Diego put up one more run to take a 4-0 lead.
In the seventh inning, Weber State's Chloe Camarero singled through the left side. Brooke Moeai followed her with another single. Ashlyn Visser then flied out to center field for an RBI scoring Camarero. WSU couldn't manage any more runs and fell to San Diego, 4-1.
Weber State is now 3-9 overall on the season and will remain in San Diego to take on San Diego State and San Jose State tomorrow.
