POCATELLO, Idaho -- The Weber State women's golf team cruised to the team championship in the Battle of I-15 tournament at Jupiter Hills Country Club on Monday, defeating Idaho State and Westminster College.
The Wildcats scored 33 points as a team in the Nassau-type scoring system, which awarded a point each in head-to-head matchups for winning the front nine, the back nine and the overall score. Three points were possible in each individual match.
Idaho State and Westminster each scored 19.5 points to tie for second place on the team leaderboard.
In round one, WSU earned 17.5 points across nine matches. Kameryn Basye, Morgan Bentley and Taitum Beck led the way, scoring 3-0 wins for the Wildcats, while Molly Holbert added 2.5 points and Kirsten Convoy and Aspyn Moosman each earned two points.Â
In round two, the Wildcats finished off the win with an additional 15.5 points. Basye added another 3-0 win for a perfect six points on the day. Holbert and Gabby Denunzio each added 2.5 points and Taitum Beck added another two points.
The Wildcats will finish off their 2019 spring schedule with the Big Sky Conference Championships at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nev. on April 19-21.
