Wildcat men and women finish second at BYU Invitational

PROVO, UT– The Weber State men's and women's cross country teams continued the 2019 season Saturday morning at the BYU Invitational in Provo, Utah.
Both the Wildcat men and women's team earned second place at the meet.
ÂWOMEN
The Wildcats placed three runners in the top five spots. Senior Lexie Thompson finished first overall with a time of 17:48.8 beating the Cougars on their own 5K course. Abby Lawrence finished in second, with a time of 17:53.0, and Summer Allen placed fifth coming in at 18:08.3.Â
This is the second meet in a row that Lexie Thompson has finished first overall. She broke the CSI Invitational 5k course record by 34 seconds last week, and was named the Big Sky Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week.
Freshman Laurie Murphy finished 14th at 18:30.8 and Bailey Wall was 20th with a time of 18:58.4.Â
The women's team came in second place with 32 points, just shy of the Cougar's 28 points. Dixie State finished third, and Westminster College finished fourth.
MEN
The men's team placed three runners in the top 10 on BYU's 7K course, to finish in second with 47 points. BYU finished in first, Dixie State in third, and Westminster College in fourth.
Sophomore Taylor Dillon was the Wildcats' first finisher, coming in seventh with a time of 21:45.0. Dallin Leatham finished eighth with a time of 21:49.8, and Tyson Green finished ninth coming in at 21:50.6.Â
Jacob Stone was 14th overall at 22:12.9 and senior Jordan Cross was 17th at 22:21.5. Â
The Wildcats' next meet will be the Notre Dame Invitational on October 4th in South Bend, Indiana. Â
