Men's tennis picks up exciting win against Air Force

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO - Weber State men's tennis continued the 2020 season on Saturday afternoon with a 4-3 win over Air Force.
"The men put up a great effort today," said head coach Brad Ferreira. "After three days of tennis everyone is exhausted, but there was tremendous fight from Kris, Johnny (Li), Arthur, and Sebastian. Very impressed with our team."
In doubles action, Air Force took the overall point with wins in the no. 1 and no. 2 spots. No. 3 went unfinished. Weber State duos Kris van Wyk and Arthur Serafim, and Brendan Barr and Bo-Han Li fought hard in the no. 1 and no. 2 spots, but narrowly missed the victory.
In singles play, Bo-Han Li started things off on a great note for the Wildcats by defeating Jordan Azuma 6-3, 6-4. Arthur Serafim was the next WSU player to come away with a victory as he defeated Mack Galvin in three sets with the scores being 6-3, 1-6, 6-3. Kris van Wyk then gave Weber State their third point when he defeated Paul Hendrix 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 to bring the overall match score to 3-1 for the Wildcats.
Air Force was able to pick up a point in the no. 5 spot, but when Sebastian Buxman defeated Justin Waldman in the no. 4 spot 7-5, 6-7, 6-3, the Wildcats had clinched the overall victory. Air Force picked up the final point in the no. 6 spot to make the final score 4-3 for the Wildcats.
Weber State (3-2 overall) will take on Colorado Mesa this Friday, January 31st at 2:00 pm in Ogden.
