Wildcats open Big Sky play this weekend at Portland State

• After three non-conference games, it's Big Sky time for the Wildcats who open conference play this weekend. The first of 20 scheduled Big Sky games will be this weekend when the Wildcats play at Portland State Friday night and Sunday afternoon. This season the conference schedule will be the same opponent each weekend, mostly at the same location. This weekend's games will be streamed online on Pluto TV 1051 and on WatchBigSky.com. Radio broadcast at 103.1 FM "The Wave".

• Weber State is 2-1 on the season after season opening wins over Adams State and Westminster, followed by Sunday's 70-59 loss at Boise State. 


• After three games, senior Isiah Brown leads the Big Sky and is sixth in the country in scoring at 24.3 points per game. Brown is also third in the league in steals and fourth in assists and 3-point percentage.    

• Senior Cody Carlson has scored in double figures in all three games and is averaging 15.3 points per game after three games. Carlson is also first in the entire nation in field goal percentage. He is 17 of 20 from the field this season for 85 percent, tops in the country. He is also 4 of 5 from 3-point range. 

• Senior Michal Kozak leads the Big Sky and is 23rd in the nation in blocks at 2.7 per game. He now has 88 career blocks, which ranks 10th in school history. Friday's game will be the 100th career game for Kozak who has never missed a game in his Wildcat career.      

• Weber State ranks fifth in the nation and first in the Big Sky in free throw percentage at 83.8 percent.

• Portland State is 1-2 on the season with a win over Northwest and losses at Portland and Washington State. PSU is currently second in the nation in offensive rebounds and third in total rebounds. The Vikings were picked to finish fourth in the Big Sky preseason coaches poll.   

• This is the 58th all-time meeting between the two teams with Weber State holding a 41-16 series lead. The Vikings won both games last season and have won three of the last four meetings. In games in Portland, WSU is 14-12 all-time.  

• WSU is in a stretch of five-straight games away from home, with four as true road games. After this weekend, the Wildcats next will take on BYU at Vivint Arena in Salt Lake City on Dec. 23.
