Wildcat women's track and field competes well in Weber State Invitational

OGDEN, UT - The Wildcat women showed very well at the Weber State Invitational meet in Ogden, Utah this weekend.Â
"Our student-athletes did very well this weekend," said women's track and field head coach, Paul Pilkington. "Emily Morgan-King broke the 200 arena record, and many other women set personal records."
In the 55 meter dash, Weber State took the first, second, and fourth spots. Emily Morgan-King not only took first place with a time of 7.03, but also set a personal record, and the time is ranked fifth best in school history. Amy Frank earned second place with a time of 7.31, and Brianna Powell earned fourth with a time of 7.37.Â
Emily Morgan-King earned first place in the 200 meter dash with a time of 24.64. This time is the fastest in Weber State history, and broke a record previously set by Elizabeth Kealamakia 29 years ago. Amy Frank earned second place with a time of 26.02, and Brittany Cardall finished in third with a time of 26.16.
In the 800 meter run, Cheyenne Leatham finished in second place with a time of 2:18.26, and Michelle Pratt finished in fourth with a time of 2:19.88.
Bailey Wall took first place in the mile run with a time of 5:09.20 to set a personal record. In the 3000 meter run, MarLee Mitchell earned first place with a time of 10:06.23 (9:47.50 converted). This is currently ranked fifth in the Big Sky Conference. Kate Sorensen performed well in the 55 meter hurdles, finishing in first place with a time of 8.04.Â
Lexie Thompson (competing unattached with eligibility left in outdoor track and field) ran in the Husky Classic in Seattle, Washington this weekend, and finished with a time of 16.09 in the 5K. This time is ranked third in Weber State history.
In the field events, Paige Van Meeteren (competing unattached with eligibility left in outdoor track and field), set a new personal record in the high jump and earned first place, with a jump of 5-11.25. Courtney Christopherson, Emily Barnes, and Briana Dusenberry tied for second place with a 5-04.25 jump.
Paige Dallman earned first place in the pole vault, with a vault of 11-06.25, and Raigan Jones earned third with a 11-00.25 vault.Â
Sophie Merritt earned first place in the shot put, throwing a 49-03.00, and Kapuake Pulotu earned third with a throw of 42-06.75. Megan Larkins earned second place in the weight throw, with a throw of 55-00.75.
Up next, Wildcat indoor track and field athletes will compete in the Big Sky Indoor Championships hosted by Idaho State in Pocatello, Idaho on February 27th through 29th.
