Charlotte Wilkinson sets school record; Wildcats wrap up season at NCAA First Round meet

Wilkinson broke a 32-year-old school record in the 800 meters.
The Weber State women's track and field season came to an end as the 'Cats had five athletes qualify for the NCAA West Region meet.
The highlight of the meet was a new Weber State school record set by sophomore Charlotte Wilkinson.
Wilkinson set a new record in the 800 meters as she posted a time of 2:05.75. She finished 29th overall and missed advancing to the finals by less than a second.
The time is a new Weber State school record, breaking Shawna Cox's 32-year-old 800-meter record set in 1994 by more than one second. The time is also just outside the Big Sky all-time top 10 list.
Wilkinson was ranked 46th in the 800 meters coming into the NCAA West First Round meet. Earlier this month, she earned All-Big Sky honors by finishing third in the 800 meters at the Big Sky Championships.
Weber State had three athletes in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Saga Hagelin finished 23rd overall at 10:29.98. Danielle Brow was 37th at 10:50.89, and Audrey Camp Cazier was 45th with a time of 11:09.44.
WSU scored 11 points in the steeplechase at the Big Sky Championships, and Hagelin was second with Cazier seventh and Brow in eighth.
Senior Alyssa Hansen Freestone finished her standout Weber State career by placing 30th in the meet in the hammer throw. She posted a mark of 188-09 to finish 30th, just off her career best throw of 188-11, which she posted earlier this year.
She finished second in the hammer throw at the Big Sky Championships this month. She is also a former Big Sky champion in the javelin and has earned All-Big Sky honors three times.
