Wildcat men's tennis falls to BYU

PROVO, UT - Weber State men's tennis took on the BYU Cougars in Provo, Utah this evening and fell 6-1. 

The match started off with a win from BYU for the doubles point. WSU duo Kris Van Wyk and Bo-Han Li took the win in the no. 1 spot 6-3. Arthur Serafim and Sebastian Buxman fought hard in the no. 2 spot but were unable to come away with the victory falling 7-5. 

In singles play, BYU came away with five points in the no. 1, no. 2, no. 4, no. 5, and no. 6 spots. However, Sebastian Buxman was able to give the Wildcats a point in the no. 3 spot when he defeated Mateo Vereau 7-6 and 6-4. "Sebastian played a great match," said Ferreira. 

"I was very happy with the effort today," said head coach Brad Ferreira. "Great start to the season and we are happy to finally be playing matches." 

The Wildcats will continue the 2021 season Friday, January 29th against Montana.
