PROVO, UT - Weber State women's tennis started the 2021 season taking on in-state rival BYU. After the Wildcats won the doubles point, they fell behind in singles matches for an overall score of 6-1.

"This was a good start to our season. BYU was a solid team. We fought hard and competed well," said head coach RuthAnn Allen.

In doubles action, the Wildcats took two out of three matches. WSU duo Patty Kuo and Megan Davies finished second in the no. 2 spot, defeating BYU 6-2. Yuuna Ukita and Ana Morett finished third in the no. 1 spot, earning the victory 7-5.

In singles play, the Cougars picked up six points. Wildcat Megan Lombardi narrowly missed the victory 7-6 and 7-5.

"We need to get comfortable pushing ourselves to be aggressive at winning time," said Allen. "We will be more focused to make these adjustments in practice."

The Wildcats will continue the 2021 season Friday, February 5th against New Mexico State.
