OGDEN, UT - The Weber State men's indoor track and field team competed well in the Weber State Indoor Invitational on January 29th and 30th. The meet was held at WSU facilities in Ogden, Utah.Â
"It's hard to believe that we had 3 meets in a row. We're starting to get that competitive edge again and it's giving us some great direction for where we would like to work in the coming weeks," said men's head coach, Corbin Talley. "During the long time off, it was sometimes challenging to find the drive and motivation, but it's coming back and we're excited about the fact that we're competing and that we have tangible opportunities ahead to work for."
In the 55 meters Cade Palmer earned third place with a time of 6.45. Muamer Mujic placed sixth at 6.61, and Alex Wheeler placed seventh at 6.67.
Alex Wheeler finished the 200 meters with a time of 22.69 to place fifth; Colton Reifschneider finished sixth at 23.31; and Muamer Mujic finished seventh at 23.66. Cyrus Rindlisbacher did well in the 400 meters, finishing second with a time of 49.81, just barely behind the first place finisher.Â
In a heavily Weber State lineup, the men did well in the mile run. Kayden Harmon finished first at 4:28.92, Josh Leatham in second at 4:33.73, Russell Lundberg in third at 4:35.61, and Bryce Anderson in fourth at 4:39.42. Carson Wilkins, Zach Wiberg, and Zachary Winter all finished the mile for Weber State.
Cyrus Rindlisbacher finished second in the 55 meter hurdles with a time of 7.49, just .02 seconds behind the first place finisher. Caleb Whitney earned fourth place, coming in at 7.62, and Jed Smith finished in sixth at 8.08. "Cyrus and Caleb both looked strong in the hurdles, and some young guys like Alex Wheeler and Kayden Harmon and Cade Palmer are really coming on," said Talley.
The Weber State men's 4x400 meter relay won an exciting first place finish against Idaho State. The team, including Isaac Tillett, Alex Wheeler, Caleb Whitney, and Cyrus Rindlisbacher worked together to come from behind and win the race at 3:25.02.
Trey Deveraux competed unattached in the high jump, and earned second place with a mark of 6' 8.75". Lachlan Burns, also competing unattached, placed second in the pole vault with a mark of 16' 0.75". "I was very pleased with Lachlan Burns in the pole vault, unattached for now, but a great first meet in America. I was als pleased with 3 PRs from Jed Smith--he's been working very hard and had to miss nearly 2 weeks with COVID, so it's great to see him performing well."
Johnie Talamantes competed in the long jump to place fifth with a jump of 21' 10.5".Â
"We've got some hungry guys and some awesome opportunities for work in front of us," said Talley.
