'Cats fall 71-59 at Eastern Washington

CHENEY, Wash. - Weber State women's basketball had an early lead but couldn't hang on as the Wildcats fell 71-59 at Eastern Washington Saturday afternoon at Reese Court.
The Wildcats got off to a great start and held a 20-19 lead at halftime. The two teams were tied 37-37 at halftime but the Eagles closed the third quarter on a 6-0 run and led by seven after three quarters.
WSU got within four points early in the fourth quarter but EWU wnt on a 10-4 run to take a 10-point lead and never looked back.
Eastern Washington shot 44 percent from the field and held the Wildcats to 33 percent shooting. WSU led the rebounding battle 39-35.
Kori Pentzer and Shianne Johnson each had 14 points and five rebounds for the Wildcats. Pentzer also led the team with two steals. Jadyn Matthews added nine points and five rebounds and Aloma Solovi had eight points.
Weber State has a bye week next week with no games scheduled. The 'Cats are next scheduled to take on Southern Utah on Jan. 21 in Cedar City and host the Thunderbirds on Jan. 23 in Ogden.
