Christian Allen takes sixth place overall; Wildcats beat four nationally ranked teams.

Weber State's nationally ranked men's cross country team continued its strong start to the season. The Wildcats finished seventh as a team Friday at the prestigious Joe Piane Invitational, hosted by Notre Dame.

The 28th ranked Wildcats totaled 227 points to claim seventh place. WSU defeated four nationally ranked teams including second-ranked Notre Dame, the host of the meet. They also beat ranked teams Ole Miss, Purdue and Indiana.

Weber State junior Christian Allen finished sixth overall at the meet, posting a time of 23:32.9 on the five mile course.

Senior Dallin Leatham was WSU's second runner, finishing 36th at 24:15.4 and Taylor Dillon was 49th with a time of 24:30.4.

Jacob Stone came in 65th with a time of 24:42.4 and freshman Logan Anderson was Weber State's fifth runner, taking 71st overall at 24:46.3.

"It was a great performance by the team and they handled themselves really well against a competitive field," said WSU head coach Corbin Talley. "We actually got off to a real poor start and were near the back at the one mile mark. They fought back really hard and made up a lot of ground to finish seventh. It was a real solid and gritty performance."

The Wildcats will next compete at the NCAA Pre-National meet, October 15th in Tallahassee, Florida. The Big Sky Championships will be October 29th in Portland, Oregon.
