The Weber State men's Cross Country team competed in two separate meets on Friday. The Wildcats raced in the 8k Bill Dellinger Invitational in Springfield, Oregon, and the 7k Utah State Invitational in Logan, Utah.
WSU claimed third place in the Bill Dellinger Invitational, recording 103 points. The Wildcats only placed behind No. 14 Oregon and No. 23 Air Force.Â
Peter Visser led the Wildcats and placed fifth with a new PR at 23:17.59. Head coach Corbin Talley said, "It was a stellar race from Pete. He set the pace for the entire field and kept pressing throughout the 8k. As far as I can find, his 23:17 is the fastest 8k race in Weber history on any course."
Jacob Peterson was the second Wildcat to finish at 23:57.18 for 19th place. Owen Rogers placed 26th with a time of 24:07.79, quickly followed by Wesley Kallgreen in 28th at 24:11.46. Ty Davis rounded out the top five WSU runners in 35th place, finishing with a time of 24:29.26.
WSU also took second place at the Utah State Invitational while recording 67 points. Taylor Knight led the Wildcats in 15th place at 21:48. Carson Day finished soon after in 16th place with a time of 21:53.Â
Jess Christiansen posted a time of 21:58 in 20th place. Will Luoma claimed 25th place at 22:09. TJ Warnick wrapped up the top five Wildcats in 37th, posting a time of 22:32.
"The squad we sent to Utah State did a stellar job competing with the other B squads in the region." Talley said, "Overall it was a great day for Wildcat Cross Country both in Eugene and Logan."
The Wildcats now look ahead to the Big Sky Championships on November 1 in Bozeman, Montana. Following the Big Sky Championships, the NCAA Mountain Region Championships will be hosted in Salt Lake City, Utah, on November 14.
