Head coach Brad Ferreira had the following to say about the tournament. "Each player was placed in a bracket based on our projected line-up. In the number one bracket, Sebastian Buxman had a great weekend playing some high-quality matches and beating some highly ranked players in our conference. Unfortunately, he had to retire after being down 6-3, 3-1 with a nagging injury that finally caught up to him. In the number two bracket, Tristan Sarap took some time getting used to playing indoors for the first time. He picked up good wins against Kristensen (Idaho State), Van Dijk (Montana State), and a default against Utah."Â
"At number three, Arthur Serafim struggled the first day but starting Saturday he started playing the way he is capable of. Elyes Marouani played at number four and also struggled with not having any experience indoors. He picked up a win against Montana State but came up short on his other matches. At number five and six we mixed up our players. Jordan Coutinho picked up a win against Utah State 7-6, 6-3 and Matteo Savio beat M. Blando (Utah) 6-3, 6-4."
"In doubles play the number 2 doubles team of Sarap and Marouani placed second with wins over Utah, Utah State, and Idaho State. The number three doubles team of Jordan Coutinho and Matteo Savio won their bracket picking up wins over Idaho State, Utah, and Montana. We played and won some very good matches and I am happy with the progress of our team," said Ferreira.Â
This was the Wildcats' final tournament of the fall season. Next up, the Cats' head to BYU on January 22.
