Wildcats Drop Season Opener At Oregon

Eugene, OR - The Weber State men's tennis team played their first match of the 2022 season against the Oregon Ducks this Saturday evening. The Wildcats earned the early advantage after securing the doubles point but ultimately fell 6-1.
Weber grabbed the early advantage in doubles play with Jordan Coutinho and Matteo Savio earning a 6-3 triumph at the No. 2 spot. Following their teammate's lead, Bo-Han Li and Chia-ieh Lin secured the doubles point for the Wildcats in the No. 3 spot 7-6.
Heading into singles play, the Cats struggled as they took losses across the board.
"We won the doubles point, which was a great difference from last year but struggled in singles with a few injuries" said head coach Brad Ferreira. "I am very impressed with the fight from Arthur, Sebastian, and Elyes. Oregon is a tough team and we have plenty to work on."
Up Next: The Wildcats take on BYU Saturday, January 22 at 2:00 PM.
