Wildcats return to Stewart Stadium to host Portland State Saturday

Weber State has won back-to-back road games. Wildcats and Vikings kickoff Saturday at 1 p.m.

• After back-to-back road wins, the Weber State football team returns home to open November against Portland State on Saturday. The Wildcats and Vikings will kickoff at 1 p.m. at Stewart Stadium, in the first visit to Ogden for Portland State in five years.

The game will be televised on ESPN+ with Tony Parks and Riley Jensen calling the action. Steve Klauke and former Wildcat head coach and athletic director Jerry Graybeal will call the game on radio at 103.1 FM "The Wave". Live stats will be available at WeberStateSports.com.

Weber State coming off 40-17 win at Idaho State    

The Wildcats won their second straight road game with a 40-17 win at Idaho State on Saturday. Weber State totaled 405 yards of offense and held the Bengals to just 193 total yards, including 24 yards rushing. WSU also held the Bengals to 1 of 11 on third down conversion attempts. 

Wildcats ranked 24th in the national rankings     

After Saturday's win, Weber State remained in the national rankings, now ranked 24th in the country in the latest Stats Perform and AFCA Coaches polls. WSU fell out of the national rankings on Oct. 18 for the first time since November 2016, snapping a streak of 56 straight polls in at least one of the rankings. 

The Big Sky has six teams ranked in this week's polls. Montana State is fourth in the Stats poll with  Eastern Washington fifth, UC Davis eighth, Montana 11th and Sacramento State 16th. 

Rashid Shaheed makes history; named National Special Teams Player of the Week  

After a historic and record setting performance in helping Weber State to a win, Rashid Shaheed has been honored as the National Special Teams Player of the Week. He was also named the Big Sky Special Teams Player of the Week. .

Third down lockdown 

  The Wildcats held Idaho State to just 1 of 11 on third down conversion attempts in Saturday's win. Weber State currently leads the Big Sky and ranks seventh in the nation in third down conversion defense. The Wildcats are allowing opponents to convert on 27.1 percent of third down attempts. 

On offense, Weber State was a season-best 10 of 15 on third down attempts in the win over Idaho State. In the last two games, WSU is converting on 51 percent of its third down attempts. 

Welcome back home     

Weber State has played three of the last four games on the road and had just one home game in the month of October. WSU is 4-0 on the road against FCS opponents and 0-3 at home. 

Weber State is the only school in the country that is undefeated on the road in FCS games, while also not winning a game at home. 

The Wildcats saw an 11-game home losing streak snapped earlier this year. WSU has won 17 of its last 20 home games against Big Sky opponents. 

Welcome to November     

As the Wildcats begin a new month, Weber State has won 12 of the last 13 games played in the month of November. The 'Cats have also won six straight and nine of the last 10 games at Stewart Stadium in the month of November. WSU is 16-5 under Jay Hill in games in November.
