Weber State moves to 5-0; Coach Rahe wins 300th game

Weber State beat Green Bay 68-58 to start the season 5-0 for the first time since 1985-86.

Weber State men's basketball made history with a 68-58 win over Green Bay on Sunday at the Jersey Mike's Classic in St. Petersburg, Florida. 

The win moved the Wildcats to a 5-0 start for the first time since the 1985-86 season. It was also the 300th career win for Weber State head coach Randy Rahe

Weber State also claimed the title at the Jersey Mike's Classic with a 3-0 record. 

How it happened 
The Wildcats trailed early on before an 11-0 run gave WSU a 33-23 lead with five minutes left in the first half. 

WSU led 39-30 at halftime and started the second half with the first four points. The 'Cats had their biggest lead of 15 points midway through the second half and the Phoenix were never closer than seven points the rest of the way. 

Numbers to know
The Wildcats shot 49 percent from the field, compared to 38 percent for the Phoenix. WSU also knocked down seven 3-pointers and forced 15 Green Bay turnovers and had eight steals. 

Seikou Sisoho Jawara had his best game of the season as he posted 20 points. He was 7 of 9 from the field and 5 of 6 from 3-point point range. He had 18 of his 20 points in the first half and made his first five 3-pointers. 

Dillon Jones had his fourth double-double in five games as he finished with 13 points and grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds. He also had three steals and was 6 of 8 from the field. 

JJ Overton added 16 points on 6 of 7 shooting and had three rebounds. 

Coach Rahe won his 300th game and is now 300-179 in his 16th season as head coach of the Wildcats. He has led Weber State to five Big Sky titles and three appearances in the NCAA Tournament. He is the winningest coach in Weber State and Big Sky Conference history.

The Wildcats will return home from Florida but be back on the road later this week when they head to St. George to take on Dixie State on Saturday at 7 p.m. Weber State will return to the Dee Events Center and open Big Sky Conference play next week hosting Northern Arizona on December 2 and Portland State on December 4.
