Wildcats move to 6-0 with 87-70 win at Dixie State

Seikou Sisoho Jawara led Weber State with a season-high 23 points.

ST. GEORGE, Utah - Five Wildcats scored in double figures as Weber State moved to 6-0 with an 87-70 win over Dixie State Saturday night at the Burns Arena. It was the first ever matchup between the two instate schools. 

Seikou Sisoho Jawara scored a season-high 23 points and the Wildcats shot 56 percent from the field. 

How it happened 
The Wildcats shot 55 percent from the field in the first half and closed the half on an 8-0 run and held a 41-35 lead at the break. 

The Wildcats led by five at 57-52 when they went on a 15-4 run and held a 72-56 lead with eight minutes to play. 

WSU led by as many as 20 points and the Trailblazers were never closer than 12 points the rest of the way. 

Numbers to know
Five Wildcats scored in double figures led by Sisoho Jawara who had a season-high 23 points. He was 10 of 16 from the field, including 3 of 6 from 3-point range. He also had three assists and three seasons. 

Koby McEwen added 17 points and Zahir Porter had a season-high 14 points off the bench. JJ Overton also had 14 points with 12 coming in the first half. Cody Clarson also scored in double figures with 10 points and Dillon Jones grabbed a game-high nine rebounds. 

Weber State finished the game shooting 56 percent from the field and held Dixie State to 46 percent. 

The Trailblazers outrebounded the Wildcats 34-30 but Weber State scored 32 points in the paint and had 25 points off 18 Dixie State turnovers. The 'Cats were 9 of 20 from 3-point range and 10 of 13 from the free throw line.

After playing the last five games away from home, the Wildcats will finally return to the Dee Events Center for two games this week as the open Big Sky Conference play. Weber State will host Northern Arizona on Thursday, December 2 at 7 p.m. and host Portland State on Saturday, December 4 at 6 p.m.
