Josh Aydlette named Weber State assistant track and field coach

Aydlette will coach the throwing events for the Wildcats and comes to Weber State with 20 years of coaching experience.

OGDEN - The Weber State University track and field programs have announced the hire of Josh Aydlette as a new assistant coach for the Wildcat throwers. 

Aydlette comes to Weber State with nearly 20 years of coaching experience. He has spent the last four seasons as an assistant coach at the College of Charleston, coaching the Cougar throwers where he coached four school record holders. He coached Clarence Gallop to the IAAF Junior World Championships in the hammer throw, where he represented the United States. 

"I'm really excited for the opportunity to coach at Weber State," Aydlette said. "This is a great opportunity with terrific support from the administration and great facilities. I'm looking forward to coaching and living here and can't wait to get started."

Prior to coaching at the College of Charleston, he spent three seasons as an assistant coach at the University of Hawaii where his athletes broke three school records.

While at Hawai'i he coached Alex Porlier-Langlois to All-American honors in the shot put as well as representing Canada at the FISU World University Games in South Korea and Quebec and the Francophone Games in Ivory Coast. He also coached Alexis Brenzil in the javelin who represented Canada at the Pan Am Jrs. in Peru. 

Prior to Hawaii, he spent 10 years on the staff at Charleston Southern University, his alma mater, where he coached athletes to 20 school records and 35 all-conference honors. 

Aydlette was a standout college athlete at Charleston Southern and was named to the Big South All-Decade Team. He earned 13 spots on the all-conference team, including five first-place finishes and became the first athlete in Big South history to win the same event at the conference meet all four years of eligibility. 

He and his wife Jessica are the parents of two daughters, Lily and Freya.
